It seems that from the time I was a young girl, I dreamt of being a mother. What didn’t play a part in that dream was how having children would wreak havoc on my body.

Starting My Family

When I met Samuel, I knew he would be the perfect father, and we were excited to start our family. We’d only been married a few years when we welcomed our first daughter, Julie, a true bundle of joy. Two years later, she was followed by her beautiful sister Jasmine. And then our little surprise, Jonas, came just a year after that.

My children and family mean the world to me, and I wouldn’t change a thing about them. But having children does a lot to a body, and I was no exception. Even though I’d always been in good shape, my three kids coming so quickly together made it difficult to lose the weight in between.

So here I was with three children under the age of four, and while I was running around after them, I wasn’t following a set workout routine. And my diet? Well, if you’re a parent, you know that keeping up with toddlers doesn’t allow much time to sit down and eat well-balanced meals.

I was veering farther and farther away from my pre-pregnancy body. And that was affecting my overall wellbeing, as well as my energy levels. I wasn’t as engaged and enthusiastic as I wanted to be in my role as a mom.

My Plan to Turn It Around

When Julie started kindergarten, I saw my opportunity. With her out of the house Monday through Friday, I put my other two children in part-time daycare to reclaim some time. That allowed me the opportunity to go to the gym three days a week.

I started working with a trainer who gave me a great workout that included a mix of cardio and weight training, and I started to feel stronger and more energetic.

I also hired a dietician, who gave me easy-to-prepare meals that I could share with my family. It was wonderful to feel in charge of our diet and get everyone involved in the kitchen. I actually started to enjoy grocery shopping and cooking again.

Over the course of the next year, I was able to lose weight and tone up. I was just 15 pounds from my pre-baby weight, and I was ecstatic.

But that’s when my progress stalled.

Exploring Other Options

I hated to admit defeat, but I knew that I wasn’t going to get where I wanted to be without some outside help. The trainer and dietician had been extremely beneficial, so much so that I was now able to continue on my own and feel confident in my choices.

But having three babies in three years did things to my body that diet and exercise alone couldn’t change, at least not to get me where I wanted to be.

I first considered surgery to tighten up my tummy, which was the area I was most concerned about. But that was expensive, and I was worried about being out of commission too long; after all, being a parent is a full-time job!

Next, I looked into liposuction because of its minimal downtime. But liposuction is really expensive. To do just my abdomen, it was going to be $12,000—or more! Also, liposuction seemed to be more for people who are more overweight than I was. I only had about 15 pounds to lose, and it was mostly in one area.

Then I learned about CoolSculpting. The process is FDA cleared, so that made me feel good. And unlike liposuction, it’s noninvasive with almost no downtime. But it’s also a lot less expensive. With CoolSculpting, I can go to the clinic during the morning while my younger children are in daycare and be ready to play with them that afternoon.

And I don’t have to change my routine at all. The process freezes targeted fat cells, causing them to die. Naturally, over the course of the next month or so, those dead cells flush from the body.

Also, this fat-freezing process is for people just like me: those who are already pretty fit and healthy and just need some help to get to their goal weight while losing inches in certain parts of their body. That’s just what I needed.

The Results

I was so happy with my experience at Bodify, and I started to see results pretty quickly. I continued to eat well and exercise three times a week, so nothing changed in my routine. But about a month after I had my first treatment, I noticed that my pants were fitting a little looser. I lost a couple of pounds too, which was awesome.

I may go through another series of treatments after I see my final results, but so far, I am extremely happy and finally feel like myself again.
