Why are Some Fat Areas So Stubborn To Remove?
When looking for solutions to rid your body of stubborn and unwanted fat, it is critical to understand what it is in the first place. Why? At Bodify we’ve done thousands of complimentary consultations. Time and again, I hear men and women beating themselves up, thinking that if they just ate a little better or worked out a little harder the unwanted fat would melt.
While in some cases, people do need to eat better and be active, each of us has a certain percentage of diet and exercise-resistant fat. So no matter how much effort we put into activities or how restricted our diet is, the fat cells don’t bulge.
This can leave us feeling frustrated and confused. I often hear, “I’m doing everything I know how, and that little bit of fat won’t budge.”
That is why CoolSculpting is a phenomenal solution. It allows us to target diet and exercise stubborn fat that isn’t going away because it is designed to hang around.
When you eat food, your body breaks down into various substances. One of those substances is blood sugar. When this happens, the body also releases insulin. This hormone opens up the cells and allows the sugar to be taken out of the bloodstream and into your cells, where is can be used or stored in your fat cells if it is not needed in that moment to fuel you.
Excess glucose is stored in the fat cells when you are in the fueled state.
When your body transitions out of the “fueled state” and if you are not putting more fuel into the body, the body will tap into the fat cells for the stored glucose to fuel your activities and keep your blood sugar stable.
For the body to tap into the fat cell and release and utilize the “fat cell” energy, the body produces chemicals called “catecholamines.”
Every fat cell has two types of receptors for these catecholamines.
In a nutshell, Beta-2 receptors speed up fat mobilization (pulling it from the cell and using it for energy), whereas Alpha-2 receptors hinder it.
So fat that tends to melt easy and respond quickly to diet and exercise changes have more Beta-2 receptors. And the stubborn hard-to-melt fat has more Alpha-2 receptors.
Hopefully, that puts all those who eat well and work their butt off at the gym at ease. You can rest assured it’s not about what you are doing or not doing, it is simply science.
And that is one reason we at Bodify, a CoolSculpting-only boutique, are so stinking grateful for the CoolSculpting technology. It helps women and men regain confidence as they reshape their body with FDA-cleared, safe, effective and non-invasive technology.
We welcome you to call us to ask any questions you may have. Our complimentary consultations help individuals discover what results from they want to achieve and what treatment plan they want to pursue.

Diet & Exercise Resistant Fat: How To Battle It
Are you an individual who has tried every diet under the sun, worked your butt off at the gym to the point of exhaustion, yet still struggles to shed pounds and unwanted fat?
What Is Resistant Fat and How Do I Battle It?
If so, you are not alone. There is a tricky little sucker called ”exercise and diet-resistant fat” that is plaguing men and women alike and making it more challenging and more demanding to get the body you want, regardless of how “well you eat” and how much you “sweat at the gym.” Diet and exercise-resistant fat have nothing to do with being “fat.” It has everything to do with your genes and hormonal factors. I know, how unfair!
By the time you are an adolescent, you have all the fat cells you will have! However, these fat cells shrink or expand during your adult life, depending on what you eat and how active you are.
Every fat cell in your body has either more alpha or beta receptors. The alpha receptors tell the fat cell to stay around, while the beta receptors signal the fat cells to break down and provide fuel to the body in the form of energy.
Hormonal changes and inputs can change the number of fat cells that have more alpha versus beta receptors.
Unfortunately, fat cells with more alpha than beta receptors tend to resist diet and exercise changes more. So while you are losing weight and getting your diet and exercise on track, the fat cells with beta receptors respond nicely and shrink, while the ones with more alpha receptors lag and frustrate us.
In these instances, no dieting or exercise will ever eliminate that paunch or bulge of fat.
Before you get frustrated, there is a solution. Stubborn fat cells with too many alpha or estrogen receptors (present in women’s cells, especially in the belly area so we can successfully carry and grow a baby) are no match for the CoolSculpting procedure.
How cool is that?
CoolSculpting does not, unlike other procedures, shrink fat cells. It sets 20% to 30% of the fat cells in the area(s) treated to go through a natural cell death process and flush out of your body. This means that you can finally achieve the look you’ve been working so hard to get but can’t achieve because of diet and exercise-resistant fat!
