What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical “fat freezing” treatment that targets areas of the body that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is non-invasive and has very little downtime, so doctors often position it as a safer alternative to liposuction. Scientifically known as cryolipolysis, the process involves using a vacuum-like controlled applicator to suction targeted areas of fat on your body. The applicator deep-freezes fat cells and the thermoelectric cooling is regulated to be just cold enough to kill fat cells, but not cold enough to cause frostbite or cause any harm to anything other than the fat. When the fat cells are killed, they’re attacked by white blood cells, which convert them to triglycerides which are then metabolized by your liver and expelled out of the body through the lymphatic system after a few weeks to a few months.
